About this place

An archaeological site known for its great carved rock and remains from different cultural periods.

Fuerte de Samaipata is more than a fortification. The site combines a large carved ceremonial rock with remains of administrative and residential spaces. Looking at both parts helps explain its different functions.

Planning your visit

Do not confuse a visit to Samaipata town with access to the archaeological site. Confirm return transport and the open visitor route. Consider guided interpretation of the carvings, and view them from permitted areas without touching the carved surfaces.

Practical information for this place is still under review. We do not have confirmed opening hours or admission fees to publish here. Check current opening hours, admission fees and access arrangements directly with the venue or its management before travelling.
