About this place

A historic museum in Sucre connected with independence and the founding of Bolivia.

The Independence Hall is the historical focus of a visit: Bolivia’s independence was proclaimed there on 6 August 1825. Its earlier roles as a chapel and university hall help explain the building’s transformation.

Planning your visit

Set aside a dedicated museum visit within your time in Sucre. Check the museum’s current opening hours and ask which rooms are open and whether guided visits are available in your language. Do not assume temporary exhibitions or past events are still running.

Practical information for this place is still under review. We do not have confirmed opening hours or admission fees to publish here. Check current opening hours, admission fees and access arrangements directly with the venue or its management before travelling.
